Friday Cat Blogging on Hold This Week
Friday, November 20th, 2009I had a really good post for this week, but we’re leaving Cedar Falls this morning for a 5 – 6 hour drive home. So, the festivities will just have to wait for next Friday!

Although Basil was involuntarily incarcerated, it was not due to the trespassing charge from last week. He had to visit the scary bad lady for his second senior check-up. He and Hopper get check-ups twice a year since they’re both seniors — it’s how they were able to catch Hopper’s heart disease early. Anyway, his right eye started gooping up this past weekend, so we wanted them to check that out, too. It’s nothing serious, but we were sent home with eye drops.

In fact, Basil exhibited model behavior during his exam, even while the techs took his temperature, blood pressure, and drew blood for lab work, all of which came back normal.
His thyroid medication is working the way it’s supposed to. The only thing is, as usual, he needs a dental. According to the doctor, Siamese and Persians tend to have bad teeth, even crooked teeth, which Basil has — his bottom incisors are a mess. If he were a child, he’d be seeing an orthodontist — he’s the right age for it.
Here, the vet is listening to his heart. She could barely hear his heart murmur, which is great news. His heart rate was moderate as was his blood pressure; both are usually higher in most cats while they’re at the vet. He was such a good boy! Hee Seop’s also really good, but probably because he’s also really frightened and shy. Brian and I wish we could bring either Basil or Hee Seop to substitute for Angelo’s and Hopper’s appointments.

Somebody does not belong on the counter. Somebody usually doesn’t jump up on the counter. Somebody usually never goes anywhere near the counter. At least not this somebody (Hee Seop and Angelo? all the time). So imagine my surprise and horror when I caught Basil trespassing. What was more surprising is that, unlike the other 2, he wasn’t foraging for crumbs. I mean, look at him, he’s just lying there resting or something. WTF? First time offender.

At least Angelo doesn’t think so. (click to enlarge)
