We just returned from seeing The Men Who Stare At Goats, but since Robin, who’s a huge Kevin Spacey fan hasn’t seen it yet, I won’t write a review but I’ve included the trailer. And I will say this: though based on a true story, the movie spoofs the Jedi Order, which is especially funny because Ewan McGregor, also in the movie, plays young Obi-Wan who’s a Jedi of course (see right), in TPM and AOTC. But you don’t need to be an SW fan or know anything at all about SW to appreciate the movie.
Also, there was a bunch of teenagers, mainly girls, sitting in a line outside the theater, and I was like, “What the fuck?” Brian said they were camping out for the new Twilight movie, which I’m not even bothering to link to. Turns out they’re showing it at like midnight or something. Barf. On our way out, Brian wanted to ask them if they were waiting for the new Harry Potter movie.

oooooh. that would have been so cool if he asked them that! so, it’s worth seeing? i’m not at all a clooney fan, but i love to look at mcgregor!!
I know — I wished he did! He just sort of muttered it as we walked away. Oh, well.
Goats is definitely worth seeing. I love all 3 of those guys, so if you love McGregor, you do not want to miss this!
“Sorry it doesn’t work out between you two…” LOL!

“You’re a Jedi warrior?”
You know what? With family out of town visiting my ill father in law, maybe I just will go treat myself to a movie! Oh, and I imagine I will ignore the fact that the huge bucket of popcorn will enrage my IBS later as well…

Yes! Treat yourself to a movie!!! Preparations for an IBS attack can always be made — kind of like setting out the puke bucket. *sigh* See what I mean?
Hiya Barb! I can’t even remember the last time we saw a movie, but we did go see this and… after seeing it, I couldn’t even tell you what it was about. I LOVE George Clooney, so couldn’t possibly give it an F. I wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe you do have to be a SW, TPM or AOTC (don’t know what the last 2 are)
to get it. I’m glad you like it, I’m guessing most people will. I don’t want anything George Clooney does to fail. He had a pot-bellied pig, you know, and it lived til it was 18! Anyways, I like Kevin Spacey & Jeff Bridges, too.

It wasn’t a “bad” movie, I just didn’t get it; there were funny parts though.
Okay, gotta finish waking up.

Brian and I try to go once a week or every 2 weeks because there’s a reasonably priced theater near us that shows first run movies.
I think Goats is going to be one of those cult movies. Historically, those have small followings or bombed at the theater, but some are the opposite. Honestly, if I knew nothing about SW (TPM and AOTC were the first 2 SW prequels George Lucas made in the late 90s, early 2000s), I’m don’t know if I would get it or not. But Jedi and SW in general are huge pop culture references, so maybe I would. I hope most people like it, too. It’s just not one of those mainstream Hollywood movies, you know?
I’m a big fan of Clooney, McGregor, and Spacey, though I’m not real familiar with Bridges’s work — but I thought he was great in this!
And yes, I did know that Clooney had a pot-bellied!
They all rocked this movie out!

They did! Personally, I thought they could have shown more of Kevin Spacey, though.
