Friday Cat Blogging No. 60: Basil at 14

Basil at 14

Basil turned 14 this month. I took this picture this morning.

Is he a lynx point siamese? He looks similar to mine, so pretty.

    he’s gorgeous!

@Sheri, he is a lynx point — a lilac lynx point tabby mix according to the little card on his cage at the shelter in March 1996. :)

@Megan, Basil’s really sweet — he gets along with the other 3 cats.

@heather, that’s what all the ladies say!

Basil sure looks good for an old cat! Gorgeous kitty!

If ever you’re interested I’d love to showcase him on my other blog “Love is a Four-Legged Word” (let me know)

  6. Barb says:

Definitely! Especially for someone who has pancreatitis, IBD, and hyperthyroid! I think he has a good number of years left. :)

Wow, 14. I’ve never had a cat longer than 8 years old so that’s my milestone for my babies. Is Basil still a baby to you as mine are to me? How did you come up with the name? Fawlty Towers?

I’ve never had my own pet before Hopper, and she’ll be 15 in January, and I didn’t even used to like cats. Both Basil and Hopper are still babies to me. I still think of them as 5 years old or so, because they look good for their age and don’t just lie around all the time.

Anyway, my ex named Basil. I’m glad you got that it’s the English name — lots of people pronounce it like in Chicken Basil, which he is partially named after — it was my ex’s favorite Thai dish. But we went with the English pronunciation. So not exactly Fawlty Towers, more like Basil Rat[h]bone.
