Hi, Jane! It's really great to hear from you! I'm also really glad that you agree with me.

And I have to admit that I've seen another side of it, too -- the exploitation of some of these people for really cheap labor. Not long ago, I saw these 2 guys crossing the street, hunched over and looking way, way older than they probably really are. I mean, I don't know if their ages matched their faces, but they just looked so beaten down and worn out. And for what? Like, $3/hr.? If that's the case, then why even bother coming here?

Oh, yeah. Anchor babies. There's one living in my building, as a matter of fact.

Anyway, I didn't get your message. :???:

I agree with you, I disagree with the way our gov't. handles it ~ they're the ones dangling the carrot. We have laws in place to deal with illegal aliens, but they aren't enforced. IMO, the problem is big business, they're the ones that hire them & if there were no jobs, there wouldn't be people crossing the border to work here. I think our borders should be closed.

I used to be much harsher with the workers, but after talking with relatives that work with immigrants, whether legal or illegal, I cannot help but see a different side of it.

I also see a HUGE problem of undoing something that can't be undone. How do you get rid of millions of people that shouldn't be here?

What REALLY fries my potatos though is the anchor baby thing. If an illegal alien has a baby here, they're an American citizen & I think that should not be.

ps... don't know if you got my message, but I tried to call you.

Hey, Abby! I'm glad others feel the same way, too. Just be sure your brother-in-law renews his visa before it expires.

Also, if they do pass that reform, I think the people who've been here illegally should pay back taxes and if anyone was using an illegal SSN, they should serve whatever the usual sentence is for that. Just because they aren't going to be deported (if the reform goes through), they shouldn't be above the law.

Hi Barb! And I agree with your previous post where you talked about this issue. I asked my sister's husband who is here legally on a visa what he thought and he said the same thing. I'm glad that others feel the same way that I do.
