There are Jedi in the game, so obviously, they weren’t all wiped out during ROTS. Wonder if this means we’ll get to see Mace Windu? I mean, we don’t know for sure that he died, do we? I hope so!!!!! I’d hate to have to kill him, though.

Barb and the Turtles returned to the ice on Thursday, May 17, facing off against More Cowbell in an Evanston Tigers Spring Mixer game. More Cowbell has been one of the top two teams in the league all season, and they lived up to that ranking in this game, winning 5 – 0.
It was a difficult start to the game for Barb, as she gave up four goals in the first period — although one was a deflection off her own teammate, and two others were on breakaways by two of More Cowbell’s top players — including the “Superstar” (don’t know her name), who may be the league’s top player, and is probably its leading scorer (since she doesn’t pass the puck very much, hence the not-so-complimentary nickname).
After that rough start, though, Barb settled in, playing a strong second period — allowing only one goal — and scoring a shutout in the third period. Included in that period was a great blocker (the pad on Barb’s right arm) save, captured in the three-photo series above.
Barb returned to the ice last night with a rematch against More Cowbell — only this time, she played for Pink Floyd, her other team. Stay tuned!
Brian’s Goalie Summary
First Period: First goal was on a shot by Superstar from Barb’s glove (left) side to her stick (right) side: it was accidentally deflected by one of the Turtles’ defensewomen and went in; otherwise, it would not have been on net. Goal 2 was on a breakaway: the More Cowbell forward skated from Barb’s glove to stick side, and then shot back to Barb’s glove side, catching Barb moving in the wrong direction. Goal 3 was scored off a shot near the blue line: Barb appeared to be screened, and the shot went in off the stick-side post. Goal 4 was scored by Superstar on a breakaway: she skated at Barb with good pace — glove side — waited until Barb went down, and then scored, stick side.
Second Period: Barb allowed one goal this period, when she went down to block a shot. The puck was either deflected by a teammate (and went over Barb) or she did not drop down quickly enough (allowing the goal to go through).

Barb was back in action last Thursday (May 11th) as her “other” Spring Mixer team, Pink Floyd, took on the Blue Angels. Once again, Barb played well, although it wasn’t reflected in the final score, with the Blue Angels winning, 4 - 1. However, Barb stopped 22 out of 26 shots, including a number of breakaways and strong scoring chances by the Angels, and did a nice job of keeping her team close — only allowing the fourth goal late in the third period.
One thing that Barb did well — and that is captured in the photo above — is stay square to the puck, thus blocking the shot and maintaining control of the rebound (keeping the Blue Angels from having another opportunity to score). The head coach at Barb’s goalie clinic refers to this move as “Spongebob Squarepants,” where the goalie keeps her body as square as Spongebob’s. Since neither Barb nor I have watched Spongebob, that analogy was lost on us at first — although it did provide a great opportunity for a “punny” title to the photo. Maybe those of you with kids at home will get this…
I’ll post an update of Barb’s last game — from this past Thursday, the 18th — on Wednesday; including photos (with Paint Shop Pro enhancement!) of a great save Barb made with her blocker. Stats and a scoring summary from this game are below.
Brian’s Goalie Summary
First Period: First goal was on a shot from Barb’s stick (right) side that went in on her glove (left) side. Barb was in pretty good position, but it was a good shot. Second goal was again from the stick side, this one through the 5-hole (between Barb’s legs), as she went down a split-second too late to make the save
Second Period: Barb allowed one goal this period, and it occurred when her team was trying to change lines (all the skaters leaving the ice, to be replaced by a second unit). The Blue Angels intercepted the puck as this change was taking place and beat the Pink Floyd skaters down the ice, leaving Barb alone. The Angels then made a nice pass, from Barb’s glove side to her stick side, and scored a goal as she was moving from one side of the crease to the other.
Third Period: Barb nearly got a shutout this period, but the Angels best player got behind the Pink skaters on a breakaway and scored. Barb had stopped her on a breakaway earlier — and tried to make an athletic, scrambling save on this play — but the Angels skater made a nice move and scored.
I’m exhausted, possibly from dehydration. Saw the PCP and it isn’t the anemia. He doesn’t think I’m getting enough carbs, considering my activity level, so for a week I get to eat one Pop-Tart a day and white rice and pasta! Yay! He also said that stress and tension can add to my exhaustion. He put me on a new Pill called Yasmin that supposedly has fewer PMS side effects, so hopefully that’ll take care of my fibroid worries.
I passed my butt tests with flying colors (heehee). The problem is a loose involuntary sphincter muscle that neither surgery nor physical therapy can cure. One option, which I’m going in for on Tuesday, is to inject (and it better be with a syringe, not a needle) some medication up my butt that’ll create some scar tissue to make the muscle tighter. Don’t ask me how. I just want the fucking thing fixed already.
I’m also playing hockey once or twice a week now, and Brian and I have started a weekly Creative Writing/Beginning Fiction class. Who knew writing would take up so much of my time? The downside is that all of these things are on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, all in a pretty little exhausting row.
Regardless, I’ve just felt very withdrawn lately and once again, may have to take a short break from the blog world for a bit. Brian may keep you all updated on my progress. I’m one tired gal.
but it wasn’t because of my ECT treatment on Monday. Guess all I can do is try again tomorrow. My entire body is frickin’ sore and I think it’s from that stupid fibroid. Grr.
…this song is dedicated to you. It’s called “Take It Off” by The Donnas. (This post has been updated at mamazilla’s request to include a picture of me from the old (original) EXIT days when I danced in a cage on Bondage a Go-Go Nights, circa 1991. I did not actually “Take It Off” — that was at Berlin, back when they had Women’s Obsession Nights dedicated to lesbians and featuring well, me — “Manila Monroe.” )
This post is dedicated to mamazilla, who’s apparently developing a diaper fetish (well, she does have kids), and to DutchBitch, who thinks the term “butt tests” is hilarious and who made me see the light in Ultrasound Results!.
VIVA LA DEPENDS PORN!
