Ultrasound Results!

When I hadn’t heard from the PCP by 3:00 this afternoon, I called his office. The receptionist said he was gone for the day, so I figured that the results hadn’t been faxed over from the hospital yet. About half an hour later, he called me back! Though he was off duty, he was still in his office going through his messages.

So…I have one very small, benign fibroid on the outside of my uterus. He said that it isn’t a big deal, but that I should expect heavier periods and that they’ll be unpredictable even though I’m on the Pill. That sucks big time because I’ve always had very light periods as an adult, but it could be much worse and thankfully, it isn’t!

If any women with fibroids are reading this, and are willing to share their experiences, please e-mail me if you have my address, or Contact Me. I really don’t know what to expect, and I guess it’s time to do a little research, too. Anyhow, I would really, really, really appreciate it!

As for the anemia, I confessed and said that I haven’t been taking a multivitamin with iron, which he recommended. However, because my anemia is really slight, and since the recent heavy bleeding I experienced was from the fibroid, he said that I don’t have to take it, especially since all that tiredness, dizziness, weakness, and nausea I’ve had for the last few weeks were due to a combination of the iron supplements, Florastor (that the GE told me to take), and Tegretol. I’ve stopped all three, with my PCP’s and pdoc’s blessings (though he was surprised at the reaction, because I’ve taken way higher dosages of Tegretol in the past). I haven’t told the GE that I stopped taking the Florastor. OK, it’s because I’m, perhaps, irrationally mad at him for telling me to take the iron and Florastor in the first place, because that’s when all this started!

And guess what? Since yesterday, I’ve felt just fine and even went to the gym before my pdoc appointment! So there! I don’t even need Brian to supervise my showers anymore because I no longer have to fear falling out of the tub, which nearly happened several times before I stopped taking all that.

Anyway, the PCP wants to see me in two months for a check-up and another blood test to check my anemia level. He’s an awesome, awesome, doctor, and he so didn’t have to call me back today and talk to me for as long as he did. I (l) my PCP! And I know Brian does, too!

So, my next ECT is in two weeks, and I have the butt test the next day. I’m in a much better mood, so I can now laugh about it, too: butt test, butt test, butt test! What? Blood test? No! BUTT test, you butthead! :d

Good news is always a welcome note. Of course… you shouldn’t blame the PCP for the drug mix reaction… everyone’s chemistry is different… but MAYBE there is something to it… and he can publish a paper on it… and you’ll be famous!!!

Yeah. I’m going back to smoking my crack pipe now.

Glad to hear that your PCP is doing such a good job and making you feel comfortable. Very important.

And see! It is funny: butt test! butt test!

Thanks, everyone, for sticking by me. I can’t tell you how rough it’s been, both on me, Brian, and even the cats as they’ve been pretty neglected, as have my blogger friends, I’m afraid. Hoping to be able to remedy that soon. :)

Dawgg, it was the GE, not the PCP that I was blaming! Anyway, you’re right, and I was just acting like a spoiled little girl — had to blame somebody! He’s actually a very good doctor and a nice man in general.

DB, yeah, yeah, you’re right! ;)

  8. Glad to hear you’re getting better. Some of these drugs don’t react well together, but as another person said, everone’s chemistry is different. I react badly to most medications so my options are pretty limited.
Hope you continue to get better and better!

You did read my posts about the fibroids, didn’t you? It must be different for everyone or depends on where the fibroid is and such. I got a version of the Pill to take for 10 days, and OMG! I just had a “normal” period with NO agonizing pain for the first time in over 15 YEARS!

I had told 3 other doctors over the course of that time how bad it was and none of them ever attempted to do anything for me! So now I’m just SO pissed about that.

Great. Just as I finally mustered up the courage and resolve to at least reply to comments, I just realized that Kentucky Girl and Mr. Fab’s comments on this post have disappeared! “Searched my ‘Comments to Respond To’ folder in my e-mail and found their comment notifications. So I know it to be true.” Only die-hard SW fans’ll probably get that, but still. Argh.

Anyway…here’s what KG said on 04/06/07 at about 3:06 a.m.:

Good to hear it isn’t anything bad. Fibroids are a pain in the ass for sure. I don’t take my iron either. Makes my poop weird colored and hard. I’m not interested in that. LOL I’d rather be weak and tired than have weird poop. Does that make me weird? :p

And Mr. Fab on 04/06/07 around 8:00 p.m.:

I’m glad the news is good. If you have any specific questions or concerns, email them to me and I can have Mrs. Fab address them for you. She runs an OB/GYN practice.

KG, that’s true. I guess it’s common in most women, and my mom told me that it runs on her side of the family. As for poop, I don’t mind the color as long as it actually comes out — and not by accident! ;)

Mr. Fab, thank you. And thanks for offering to help out with any info. I may take you up on that. :)

Thanks, Cheesemeister. I have a strong suspicion that it’s the Florastor, but even though I’m off the iron and Tegretol, I’m not going to try taking one again to make sure!

annie, I would be really pissed, too — totally don’t blame you there. I’m glad you’ve found a decent doctor and a Pill that makes things “normal.” I hope you don’t mind if I e-mail you about this.
