What’s Been Bothering Me Lately

A 2-part post. Part 2 is private. See above.

  1. The fact that no one on my side of the family — except for my sister — acknowledged our wedding anniversary. I’m not looking for gifts, but a phone call or a card would have been nice.
  2. When I was approved for disability, I figured it was a good time to shred all of my old job applications to colleges and universities. Then I came across this letter of recommendationLOR (click thumbnail to read) and it made me even more depressed because I’m no longer capable of writing in the different styles that I taught students, let alone teaching. And based on this professor’s letter, I was a pretty damn good teacher myself. Now I feel as though I wasted time in grad school, not just because I can no longer use what I’ve learned, but especially because I no longer keep in touch with the friends I made for various reasons — mainly envy, though that is where I met Brian.

  4. My inability to finish projects that I start.
  5. My inability to keep up with my blog reading.
  6. The rest is discussed in a private post above.

I’m sorry things have got you down. I wish I could do or say something to cheer you up, but I can see why you’re feeling like you are. (Not that I’m feeling any better) I guess when it rains, it pours, huh?

  2. Robin says:

There are always points of low time for everyone…it will get better.

  3. Barb says:

jane and Robin, you’re both right — when it rains it pours, but things do get better. I just wish they’d get better now! *characteristically stomps foot* :)

  4. DutchBitch says:

Awww… I am sorry that all this stuff is making you feel like that. I wish stomping your foot COULD make it all better! Hope the meeting with the surgeon will be alright.

  5. Barb says:

*sigh* I can’t deal with much right now, so Brian will probably write about it for me. (y)

  6. *hugs to you*

I hope that things get better. You may not be able to do the same things but you can find more things to do that make you happy….just remember that you have the illness & it will not have you. :-)

How did you do that really neat message window???
:-) Are you going to BlogHer? It is in Chicago this year.

  7. Barb says:

Thanks, butterly. You’re certainly right about that, but I guess until I know everything…well, it’s just really hard right now, not knowing.

That message window is simply a block quote, and I changed the font color to match the background.

As for BlogHer, I’ll have to look up what it’s about. I don’t really participate in blogging events, or at least I haven’t. But if it’s in Chicago, then maybe….
