Ank, welcome! So far it's just this one friend that we've had over. :d We were supposed to get together tonight to watch HP2 but, and funny you mentioned it, both Brian and I are contagious. I developed a cough last night and immediately bought those Alka Seltzer Plus Liquigels and Cold-Eeze, which finally comes in flavors where you can't taste the nasty zinc! I like Strawberries and Cream, myself. (y)

I'm glad you like my blog design -- I do, too! ;) Danalyn from Weblog Design Studios has done an awesome, awesome job. I plug her whenever I can. (l)

I haven't had a chance to check out your entire blog, but I blogrolled it. From what I saw, we have plenty of common. I'll definitely be back.

Oh, chase! I own the DVDs and the books! I've even pre-ordered Book 7 through Borders because you get a 40% discount! You have until July 21st to pre-order.

Anyway, it wasn't the first time we saw the movie -- it was the first time we've had guests, silly! If I didn't like you, I wouldn't have called you silly, I would have asked you: gago ka ba? :d

No need to apologize for not having visited in a while. I haven't visited tons of blogs, either, having been in the hospital and stuff like that. Hope you're doing well. (l)

I love the design of your blog, Barb - and entering comments is hilariously fun with the live preview and the gorgeous 'hi-def' smileys Sorry to bust in like this (b) , but I needed to check back to your blog so I could nefariously link back to you (if that's kosher with you! ) :s

The hubby and I are TERRIBLE hermits! But we have one friend ('through' me, heheh) who we usually have over 1-2 times a week, but at the moment we're on a "one of us is (minorly!) contagiously ill!" hiatus at the moment. That and I've been spending so much time checking out the 'blogosphere', heheheh. Not getting enough sleep :o

My upstairs neighbours are drilling through the ceiling (or so it sounds!) - a perfect time to go to bed... (i)

Talk to you / read you soon!

It does feel good to socialize. My team usually goes out after games, but our season's not over.

Though the money situation is God-awful right now, Brian and I had dinner at the Duke of Perth Friday night. In the nearly six years we've been in Chicago, I've wanted him to try it. They even had all-you-can eat fish and chips! I had a chicken pot pie, though. Just wasn't in the mood for fish, plus I forgot that it's Lent. :o They have an incredible scotch menu, but neither of us are big drinkers. Still, the food is really, really good.

I've heard of O'Brien's and may have even been there, but that was so long ago. I really don't remember, and it isn't because of the ECT! ;)

I can't believe you told your daughter what happened at the end of HP6. Of course, anyone who reads your comment will now know, too! :p I hope you don't mind if I edit your comment some. :(

Glad you had someone over! That's great to hear. I actually went to dinner at O'briens over on Wells near North Ave and then to Second City afterwards on the 18th with an old friend. Feels good to socialize doesn't it?

I haven't read any of the HP books, with the exception of one page of the last book while standing in the checkout lane at midnight the day it came out. My daugther bet I couldn't figure out the ending by reading one page. So I turned to a page near the end, read it and announced that I bet she didn't know (spoiler: highlight to read) Dumbledore(sp?) dies. BIG OOPS! She was furious that I'd spoiled that part of it for her. I have seen all the movies though and they're just not my thing. Guess I lack the imagination to get into those fantasy worlds.

Ratty, we'll probably have HP viewing parties(~) in preparation for the movie this summer! This past Saturday, Kristina just happened to call to see if we wanted to hang out. We didn't know what we'd watch, but after the movie, we decided that some HP parties may be in order! Wanna come over? ;)

Dan, you're absolutely right. That's why I try to remember that AA slogan, "Stick with the winners."

When the Harry Potter books were first published, I avoided them like the mice our cats have been capturing lately. Part of it was because they seemed "too" popular (if that makes sense); the other part was because I was in grad school at the time and looked down on grown-ups reading these kids' books! Meanwhile, I had to read this God-awful book called The Critical Tradition and other stuff like that. There's now a third edition. Check out the table of contents if you have a strong stomach. ;) My point is (finally), that maybe I was jealous, too, because I had to read this critical theory crap.

Now, I'm actually glad to be able to read fluff and comics. Well, part of it is because of the ECT. :(

I know I read a few Lloyd Alexander books as a kid, though I don't remember what they were about -- and it has nothing to do with ECT! I do remember that I really liked the ones I read. (y)

Being social animals means sometimes other people get us down, and sometimes they pick us up. You just hope you've surrounded yourself with the best kind. ;)

I still have never understood Harry Potter. I always liked Lloyd Alexander when I was a kid, maybe because they were so depressing. :)

Don't feel bad, because we hardly ever have people over -- even all three of my relatives that live in Chicago. Of course, they're busy with their own lives, and we don't visit them much, either.

Oh, I so wish we lived closer to each other!

Okay, now I feel like a social retard. We NEVER have people over. Well, my kids or 1 of Jim's friend, but that's it. We're hermits.
That's really cool Barb. See, if you lived by here, I'd have you and Brian over. We've been watching our Seinfeld DVD's lately; we can't get enough of em.
You rock!!
