Thats always the best thing to do I think. Ill give them food from time to time. The ones that get upset about the food are the ones that would do something bad with the money I think.

Yes, they should appreciate it if they are really bums. Some people in Atlanta made a living (a very good living) by dressing shabby and pretending to be bums. They just wanted the money, so if anyone offered them anything else, they always made some excuse why they couldn't use it or do it, etc. But if they are really homeless and hungry, then they should appreciate food for sure.

hey, just passing by...

i agree with you. i think it's much better to give food cuz that's what they really need anyway...besides work and shelter. if you give them money, they can use it for all sorts of things...good and bad.

i helped out at a local soup kitchen before and i was really surprised to find out that a huge percentage of the homeless are kids or war veterans...

Good advice! A nice hot cup of coffee and a burger would be great on a cold day like today. Do you see many "bums" when it's this cold outside?

I live in Lakeview right by the worst Dominick's in the entire world where you have to make your way through a tap dancing harmonica player, a kid with obvious chemical dependency issues, a Salvation Army guy, a Streetwise seller and then you are asked to donate to some random cause as you're being checked out. Times are tough.
