Truckers also know the good eating spots. This doesn’t apply so much to cities, but it is helpful knowledge.
Oh, especially applicable in the Midwest, the quality of food a place serves is often inversely proportional to how good the exterior of the restaurant looks. If the interior is cruddy, that should raise a flag, but often the best joints don’t look that hot from the outside.
Note that Cracker Barrel has never disappointed me if you are traveling and in need of Good Eats ™.
