Does this actually work?

sometimes it does, my friend, sometimes it does. i’d only do it though, if i was only running in and running right back out.

That sounds like a recipe for disaster. I imagine a cop, if he took a moment to check your ticket out, would be seriously pissed seeing it was an old one.

good point. my theory is that a cop isn’t going to bother–it’s usually the meter maids that check out that sort of thing. at least, one hopes that a cop has better things to do!
honestly, i’ve never used this method myself, but people i know have, including my dad. and you know how it is with parents and kids: well, if Daddy can do it, then i guess it’s ok.

Well I geuss my point was that a meter maid going by, might notice the ticket and think to themselves, “Hey, I don’t remember putting that there.” And go check it out. Around here, small town, USA, there is only one meter maid per area, so I’d have to guess they would remember the cars in their area. In chicago don’t they have their own stomping grounds? Or do they wander all over?
I do get the “if Daddy can do it, then i guess it’s ok” mentality though. I’ve definitely thought to myself, “Hey my parents do it this way, it must be the right way to do it.”
